Logan

Logan and Princess

Logan is a young male who came over from Texas. He was abandoned at the dump. He has a very nice temperament. He is a little skinny right now. Needs good food and loving. He is with a foster mom now so we are getting a better sense of his habits. We really like him.

After being fostered by Suzanne Blanchard, Ellie went home today with Joe and Sheila . She will have a doggie brother, Marcus, a black standard poodle. This is the first dog who came from Las Cruces and went to someone in Las Cruces.
Ellie was an owner release at our local animal shelter. Her owners turned her in because they could not afford to feed her.

She is a beautiful and loving dog. I’m glad I was able to get her out of the animal shelter quickly. Dr. Beth, the new director, e-mailed me right when she came in.

Maya is a very big Golden Retriever and will be 2 yrs old in March. She was originally found at the El Paso Animal Control when she was 3 months old by an Air Force family stationed at Holloman AFB. As she grew, they believed that she was a Golden and sighthound mix
because of her long face and legs. Out of curiosity, they did a DNA test but it came back with only Golden Retriever.

Maya is a very loveable, goofy and friendly girl. She gets along very well with other dogs and loves both kids and adults. Her family had a 5 yr old little that she loved to wrestle and play tag and fetch with. Maya grew up with cats. She played with one of them all the time and the other she knew to leave alone. Maya loves chewing on bones but needs the ones made for super chewers. She has never chewed on anything else and is a perfect lady inside the house except that she needs to be kept out of the kitchen when cooking because her nose can reach the counter tops. She loves to follow her family around the house. Her family kenneled her during the day while they were at work and at bed time.

Maya is used to not being allowed on furniture. Maya knows “sit”, “down”, “stay”, “come”, “shake”, “other paw”, “sittin’ pretty”, “hugs”, “go get it” (fetch), “drop it” (ball), “inside” (kennel), “outside”, “go potty” and “hup” (into the car). As a puppy, she attended a Puppy Playschool every weekend and also completed an 8 week agility course. Maya loves to go for walks, play with her friends at the local Bark Park and take baths. She doesn’t mind going to the vet or the groomers. She was spayed by animal control at 3 months, is microchipped and up to date on shots. Her family is completely heartbroken that they have to find her a new home but they are military and have orders to move to Germany.

OK, this boy has a GREAT family. We all are very excited!

Huck is a 18 month old male. His former owner was a young guy who used to take him hunting and running. He got out and was hit by a car and his back leg was shattered. The owner could not afford his care, so he left him to be euthanized. The vet called us and we went and got him. He has had surgery to reconstruct his leg. He has a pin in it and is recovering nicely.

This is an incredible dog. He is loving, affectionate, funny. Likes other dogs, likes to play, loves people. When his leg is healed he will be able to go running once again. He is very high energy but not hyper.

Huck will need to be with someone who can diligently keep him quiet for another 2 months while his leg heals. We love this boy and want him to have a special home.

Zoe was adopted within 20 minutes ..

We are going to be getting other dogs, so keep in touch.

This is the report we got from the owner who is giving Zoe up.

Here is Zoe and she is 31/2 even though I think she looks under 2. She was fixed right when we got her 6 months ago and she is up to date on her shots. She is an angel to our little girl and she is a dog that loves companionship. She was an outside dog for the 1st three years of her life and she’s been basically a full time inside dog for us. We are gone during the day for 6-8 hours and she does great. She doesn’t like sleeping on the bed as she sleeps under our bed. She follows me or Julia and has to be in the same room as us. Another cool thing is that she will hang out in the front yard with us and not run off. We live in a cul d sac and everyone loves playing with her. She timid and she does get scared easily.

Please call Patti at 250-2426 if you are interested in seeing Zoe.

Well Emily and Louie were ecstatic tonight….their person was able to be reunited!

Thanks to Debbra and Kathleen for the hard work. Nice!!

Emily is a very, very sweet older gal. She is loving, affectionate, low key and very amenable. She has a slight limp but other than that is bright and pronounced fit by the vet. We think she might be about 10. She too was given up by her owner who lost his house. She is looking for a very special home.

Even Mr. Goofy is back home!!! yes!!

Thanks to Kathleen and Debbra for all the hard work!

Louie is a tall, easy going goofy guy. He is hard of hearing but is totally endearing. He is about 7 or 8 and was given up by a guy who lost his family and then lost his home. Louie came to us with his Mom, Emily.

Latest news is a sad report that Spencer has passed on. But his last year was wonderful!

This is the golden that was found with a microchip from Florida. He had been missing for a year. He got loose during a hurricane and made it all the way to New Mexico.I wish he could tell us of his journey. Anyway we took him from the Humane Society her and drove him to Las Cruces where we met up with a golden rescue group from Texas and they took him on the next leg of his trip home. The pictures are of Buddy with his boy.BuddyBuddy2
