Available Dogs

Buddy is a 3 year old male who is very athletic and has lots of energy. You can see he loves to run. He came to us from the Santa Fe Shelter where he had been turned in because he was too energetic. He wants attention and came with some ways of asking that were not the best. We have been working with him and wow has he responded! He loves training!
He will do best in a household of active people who hike or run. He will do better as the only dog. He has been chipped, had all his shots and heart worm testing. We are waiting on the neuter until he is a little more settled with a routine.
Email me if you want to learn more. He is a great dog with a lot of potential.

Casey is a 6 year old owner surrender. He is fabulous with kids and little ones. He has been in a family with some stress, so he does have some anxiety and needs lots of loving. He likes his crate, loves to go walking. he is afraid of thunder and fireworks. He likes other dogs.
Casey will blossom in a home that can give him time and attention. I don’t have him yet because his owner is having a hard time with giving him up.

Exercise needs: 3
Loving attention needs: 5

email kathleen@radiantrecovery.com if you want to meet him

We are looking for some volunteers to help out. if you have some extra time, we sure would love some help.

Let me see if I can list what I think good *jobs* are….

1) someone who is good with a camera who can get great pictures of the dogs. It makes a big difference. This person would need to be *on call* on short notice. The dogs come in at random intervals. I really, really like to get them into homes pretty quickly.

2) People who can come, take a dog for a walk, maybe a run depending on the age and condition of the dog.

3) People who could take a dog out for a day, keep them safe, do an assessment of what the dog can do or not do without judging the dog.

4) People who can come and do clicker training. I would teach you. I am very good at it, and would love to have a group who would learn the basics of *good dog* clicker work and could help placement readiness.

5) Someone who is organized and thoughtful who can coordinate the volunteers.

6) Someone who might like to coordinate fundraising, public awareness stuff.

7) Someone who would like to coordinate social gatherings for our adopters…like a summer picnic or a pool party, etc.

and of course, whatever you all might think of.

let me know.

Several people have asked me why we don’t have more dogs like some of the other state rescues do. I have thought about this a lot. I think it is because we work really hard to get to know our people. So when a dog comes in, we are able to make a placement quickly. If you look at the dogs under adopted, you will see that we have placed many, many dogs. Actually, we have placed almost 450 dogs.

The people who stay in touch, who watch the web site and who call regularly are the people who get dogs. If a dog comes up that you like, email right away. Remember, we must have your application on file in order to consider you for adoption. We will arrange a meeting if the dog sounds like a good match.
